I am sure I have seen this before with XP. Go into the Control Panel and
select Administrative Tools followed by Services. Find the Workstation
service and check that the service is not disabled or set to manual startup.
If it is change the startup type to automatic and then try and start the
service. If the service starts, reboot the pc. The Computer Browser should
then start.
