Browser fails to recognize any connections

After recently installing a new wireless lan USB device my
IE Browser 6.0 now fails to recognize any connection
present whether it be my dial up, or LAN connection and
reponds the same both ways. This webpage is not available
offline. I have been assured by my computers
manufacturer, and ISP that my internet connections are
correct. Whats wrong?
