browser was closing or giving error msgs when I clicked on a hyperlink

I had trouble with my IE and Navigator either giving me error msgs or
spontaneously closing when I tried to hyperlink to non-secure sites.
I use XP. I asked a friend who told me to disable my popup killer. I
did that and everything worked fine. He said it's the javascript at
the side that interacts with the popup killer. Hope this helps
someone.
