Within the last 4 days I can be reading a web page (not touching anything)
and the Browser will close. Does anyone know what would cause this? Thank
you

Hello,

Have you scanned for spyware/adware? We see this all the time on
infected machines.

Free products to scan:

SUPERAntiSpyware
www.superantispyware.com

SpyBot
www.spybot.info

Ad-Aware
www.lavasoftusa.com

Thank you for the reply. That was my first thought too. I ran Ad-Aware and
deleted the two things it found yesterday. It happened again today about 1
hr. ago so I thought it might be something else.

Now I just ran my Zone Alarm spyware and it found 6 items. Maybe that will
fix the problem. Thanks

Yes, I've had the same problem for some time. MSoft dicusses this issue at:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/834273/en-us

I haven't been successful in obtaining the hotfix discussed in the article.
My Win2000 OS machines don't have the problem. My WinXPHome OS on my laptop
drive me nuts because of the problem, and HP's support, as usual, wants me to
uninstall the operating system and reinstall it. That would surely guarantee
a fix!

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support
Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product
Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs,
visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support
(http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support)
Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support
calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a
specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will
apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the
specific update in question.

The Browser has not closed by itself since I ran my Zone Alarm Ad Removal. It
found 6 items that Ad-Aware did not find. Hasn't closed for about 10 days
now.

What version of that module do you have?

Hint: If you have been doing any maintenance (e.g. security updates)
I suspect it will be a version much bigger than that. But it probably
is not a version which has hotfixes integrated into it. Hence, what
you then could do is install the hotfixed version from the same update
that you got your current version from. (See the appropriate
TechNet Bulletin for more instructions and ref KB897225)

Good luck
