when I log into a machine locally and browse to \\server\folder it asks for
Username and Password and connects.
When logged onto the domain as domain admin it thinks about it and then
errors out with 'The network path was not found'

Why's this? Any ideas?

When logged in as domain admin it doesn't ask for a username and password it
just thinks about it and says 'the source can not be found'.

Is it trying to use some system account (?) to access the resource
automatically?

mmm, strange huh?

Try removing the machine form the domain and then re add it. It sounds like
it may have got some securities mixed up
