Browing the network - offline files issue

User boots his laptop computer (xp sp2) connected to the network (wired) and
logs in successfully.

He opens Outlook and has connectivity to the Exchange server.

He can browse to other servers and see the shares through network
neighborhood.

However he has all his files on server A which is an AD domain
controller/file server and has mapped drives Z and Y to folders on that
server.

These virtual drives are also "offline" folders.

When he clicks those drive letters, there is nothing displayed as well as
when he browses to Network Neighborhood, the server appears to have no
shares.

His offline file synchronization notice says the server is unavailable but
He can ping the server.

There are no events in the logs on either the server or the laptop.

Nobody else (50 users) has an issue with their files on that server.

Where to look next to find out what is going on?
