The MFC8500 is a laser printer, it uses toner rather than ink.
Firstly I suspect that the drum counter was not reset when the drum was changed.
You can do this as follows.
1. Open the front cover.
2. Press the Clear key.
3. Press 1 to reset.
4. Close the front cover.
This should remove the "change drum soon" message but won't fix the clicking.
Does the clicking happen as you turn on the printer or only when printing?
If you have an old drum unit see if the noise happens with that unit.
