A friend bought the J615W on my suggestion as I'm very happy with my earlier
495CW.
She has an Athlon Dual Core 3800 processor with 1 gig Ram running Vista ( up
to date ). I've suggested more ram , but so far she hasn't added any.
She had a Canon MP510 and an i560. The 510 died and it was replaced with the
Brother. The i560 is still going ! Neither of these machines exhibited any
problems ( except for the clogged print head on the 510 and that's why she
got rid of it ).
There were 2 issues with the Brother.
1 Paper feed problems. It would either grab 2 sheets , OR fail to pick
up a second sheet when required. ( She likes to 'recycle' paper and I
suggested that wasn't the best idea , so I'm not sure the printer was
entirely at fault...
2. The second and most frustrating problem happens when trying to print a
photo , either from Picasa or the Print command in Windows Explorer.
The job is sent to the printer ( which shows " Receiving Data ' on the
display screen and the job appears in the Windows Print Queue, however it
ejects the paper after printing only perhaps 20% of the page. This happens
both in Picasa and Windows. The screen continues to show RECEIVING DATA even
though the paper is ejected and the printing stops. The job remains in the
queue and then has to be cancelled. VERY FRUSTRATING..and disappointing too.
Currently , the same print job WILL print successfully using the i560.
The only thing I can think of are the printer spool settings , however I'm
not sure which option to choose ? Does this seem logical and if so , can you
suggest anything..?
Brother provided a replacement printer today...and it does the same thing.
Suggestions , as always , greatly appreicated.
