Brother HL-2040 Laser Questions

I just got the Brother HL-3040 laser as a replacement for a clogged
inkjet, and so far so good. Three questions.

1. I want to refill. Any recommendations on a source for the toner?

2. Am I correct that the 1,500 page starter cartridge is just
underfilled, and is a suitable candidate for refilling?

3. Like my Canon inkjet, the laser has a sleep mode which kicks in
after 5 minutes. Is there any point in ever turning it off since it
"seems" not to be using any power while sleeping?
