Can anybody help with a brother HL-1250 laser Printer?

The low toner light on the printer came on permently saying toner
empty - so we changed the toner for a new one (a brother branded toner
cartridge)

However the low toner only goes away if we hit the reset button, then
after printing a couple of pages it comes back on again

Any ideas?

btw have gone through all the shaking of the toner from side to side
and cleaning corona wire as per instructions etc
