Brother HL-1240 Printing options

I have just installed the above printer and went thro the options which
offered me 600dpi and a toner saving option. Then I thought perhaps I should
update the WinXP driver which I did and now I can only print at 300 and not
offered a toner saving option..any idea what is going on?
