Broken Links not repairable

My first post so please be patient. I am working with FP2003, have used
FP2002 prior to that. So I am not completely green to using FP. I decided to
use a template with this new web site I had to make and after finishing most
of it
I changed my mind.
I deleted the graphics etc that came with the template and continued on and
make my own display. When I was all finished everything seemed to be working
fine. In preview mode and also when checking with the browser.

I ran a check on my site prior to uploading it and I had numerious broken
links.
I was shocked and couldn't imagine how I did that.

None the less I went about fixing all of them (or so I thought) just to see
that FP
reported them broken again. I have been going round and round with this and
am
at my wits end.

I cannot give you an URL to look at as I have not put this online yet. I did
not
want to publish it with all these links a mess.

I should tell you I have tried revalidating everything and that did not
help. I have physically removed what I think are all the parts that may have
been left over from the template, but that didn't help.

Could some one please tell me what I have done wrong, and did it have anything
to do with the fact that I had started out by using a template first?

I sure would appreciate any suggestion at this point as I have way to many
hours invested in this as it is.

Thanks alot,

Do the links work in the browser? If the links work, disregard the report.

If the links are contain in a JavaScript function they will appears as broken.

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes, I just checked and it seems that all the
links are working correctly in the browser. So you are saying that I should
just disregard that report?

Why do you think it was generated in the first place? I am really wondering
if anything had to do with that template, or the fact the FP2003 was just
acting strange.

Also am I to understand that I cannot use any Javascript functions now
because of this? I was going to put a drop down menu on the index page. I
thought of that as an after thought. I have not done it as of yet, but would
I be safe in doing it?

Yes, if the link work.

There are just some links that FP can not validate, mostly internal links that are embeded in a
Script function and external sites on servers that disallow pinging, etc.

No, just that depending on the JavaScript, FP may not be able to validate the link.
If the link works in the browser, that is all that matters.

Thomas,
Thank you so much for your help and advice. You certainly have saved me
from probably spending at least another 5-6 hours on this project.
Again, thank you.
