I have an outlook 2003 client. Since several weeks ago, all the images I get
are broken (red x at the top left). If I reply or forward using Word as my
editor, then the image comes back. If I use the internal outlook editor then
the image stays broken. This machine has worked for ywo years without a
problem. Any ideas?

Thanks!

are they broken or do you see the message that to download them you need to
right click in the image placeholder?

they are trully broken (a small red X in the topleft corner).

If I run outlook in safe mode, i do see the image.
If I forward or reply to that email while using Word as my outlook editor, i
will see the image as well.
If I forward or reply using the outlook internal editor, the image will stay
broken.
