I'm having a big issue with two Broadcom netxtreme gigabit integrated
NICs.
One belongs to an IBM xSeries 226 server (Windows 2000 server) and the
other to a desktop workstation (ASUS motherboard I think, with windows
XP pro).
If I connect the the Broadcom NICs to a gigabit port of an Allied
Telesyn AT-8326GB switch, two port's leds lit, the third (ACT) never
lits. Windows detects the connection but there are no received packets,
only sent. If I connect the NIC to a 10/100 port it works all OK.
I have tested with cat5/6 cables, two different but same model
switches, two diffent but same model serves to no avail.
The same switch connected through giga port to another (not integrated)
Planet giga NIC works all OK.
The two Broadcom NICs (server-workstation) linked together with giga
all OK.
Another strange thing, there is no 1000 Gb/s option in the Broadcom
drivers, only 10, 100 half and full duplex (quite strange for a NIC
that names itself Broadcom netxtreme gigabit), while there it is in the
Planet drivers.
Not a mention about this issue on IBM, Broadcom or Allied Telesyn
support.
Newest firmware and newest drivers but Broadcom refuses to work!
