Hi,
My ISP provides 6M Broadband service, I sometimes would monitor the LAN
performance. In conclusion to that, I found that only up to 9% of the
bandwidth was used (about max 300KB), are there any better ways/software to
boost my internet performance or it is as is. Thanks in advance

What type of Broadband ( ADSL or Cable ), connection from Access
Point to PC ( USB or Ethernet ). Speed of the Network Interface Card
(10/100 or Gigabit )? There might be some TCP/IP parameters that
can be modified to adjust/"Improve" the throughput.

You may want to test your TCP/IP settings from this site:

While your ISP may provide 6 Mbps service, your LAN connection is
10/100/1000 Mbps, depending on your hardware. Additionally, while your ISP
may provide up to 6 Mbps, your actual performance will depend on what's
happening out in the "real world". While you have the 6 Mbps pipe to your
ISP, the performance of the servers you're actually accessing may not be
that high.

Thanks... I have an 100Mbps LAN card. But sometimes high-through-put sites
also feel drained....
such as www.download.com, i can on maximum consume 30KB of their bandwidth.
Maybe they are restricting their servers through-put to each session. Don't
know about it... but as i know from other internet users, they say that the
download speed could rise up to 1M to 2M, On my father's computer, it was
clearly shown.... So maybe I just have a slow ISP connection....

Thanks

There are numerous testing sites on the web. One that I have a good
bit of trust in it's results is:
http://www.internetfrog.com/mypc/speedtest/
*Specific downloads will vary from site to site, all you can do is test
to determine your overall throughput.

300KB or 300Kb (note the capitilization)? 300KB would be about 50% of
6Mbit, as 300KB (kilobytes) per second is roughly 3Mbit (megabits) per
second.

Wow - I like that site at 5,730,840 bps
Only 500,000 bps to Pakistan

Point is to use the same testing site at same time of day

Any advice is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.
