The countryside, for me, is just something to look at when im going to surf...
Having said that, the views really are excellent...never thought rolling hills could look so amazing!

In the well chosen words of Murdoch and Exmoor .. the countryside is for everyone but dont get in the way of the farmers who trim and cultivate the land to make it all look spectacular for us townies ???

I see myself as a custodian of the land ready to be taken over my the next generation.
Yes we get campers & holiday makers on our land & as long as people follow the coutryside code and dont let their dogs worry the animals we are fine about it.

The main thing is i have a lovely view 24/7 & if i can spead some countryside happiness for someone on holiday for a week or two then i do. What we dont like is the people who abuse it, leave litter or even opened tins which cattle try to lick and then cut themselves, vet charges are high!

Last year we had a young couple pass the farm as we sat having a cool drink one lunch time, yes it was harvest time, but we still had a chat for 30 minutes, let their children pat the dogs, told them the best places to stay & eat and the places to avoid. 2 days later in town they rushed up to see us and told us of the enjoyment they had had visiting one of the sites we had suggested.

That for me was what the countryside is all about, for us all to enjoy.

Does Greenwich Park count as countryside?

I've always been a townie but you'd have to be lacking in something not to apreciate the Countryside.

The North and South Downs of Kent & Sussex; The Peak District in Derbyshire; Dartmoor; Cornwall's Coastline; the extreme ruggedness of far North Scotland; the lay of the land at Deptford Creek - these are just a few of the places I've enjoyed

I'm from a small town in Northumberland, so it's pretty much all countryside - although for the last 4 years I've been an honorary Mancunian and hardly any countryside to see. I do miss it, although a trip up to the lake district always does the trick

I do understand what you mean about people who litter though exmoor - it really annoys me in towns and citys, but in the countryside is even worse - especially the damages it causes.
