I made the mistake (?) of trying to print a browser window before the
printer was switched on, so Start->Settings->Printers Status column reports
it as "Off Line".

The printer is now swtched on but we seem unable to get the printer online.
How does one bring the printer online please?

Right-clicking on the printer name doesn't seem to offer any possibilities
that we can find.

Does the printer spool icon appear in your task bar, running apps (rt of
task bar)
If so try opening it and restarting the print job

No difference ... status column shows "Restarting" but the title bar still
shows "Off Line" and there is no apparent activity of any kind. The job size
is only 208 KB.

There should also be an option, in the spool window, to set the printer
online
