Good Day:

I'm new to MS product. After much searching through all the information, I'm
yet to find the answer I need. At this moment, I'm more on PLANNING the LAN /
MS setup, thus your reply need not to be too technical.

Scenario:
1. My company had upgraded it previous Win NT Server to Win 2000 Server.
2. No Domain, only workgroup for users.

Qs:
1. I understand that MS 200 Server is possible to automate program
installation on users end, instead of having to install pc-by-pc?
The example of those needed programs on users pc are MS Office, Lotus
Notes…..

2. If MS 2000 Server also possible to standardize some common setting on
users pc? For example, in regardless with user’s wallpaper and screen saver,
every time when user logon to the company’s LAN, it shall be able to
automatically replaces all the user’s wallpaper and screen saver to the
company’s wallpaper and screen saver?

3. all the above “automation” has to tied with Domain? and users shall then
tied with their respective profile?

4. What the actual usage of Domain? cause I think the current draw back of
the MS 2000 Server in my company is that it isn’t been setup with Domain?!

Your reply with input is very much appreciated.

You may need to move to a domain.

Central management. You can make some changes centrally that will affect all
clients logging into the domain where as without a domain you would have to
go to each individual machine to make the same changes.
