My In Box isn't saving messages beyond a week, and they aren't going to
Archive -- they appear to be gone. This is a new problem, and I've looked
for ways to fix. Any help would be appreciated

Forgot to say that I'm using Outlook 2007

Just looked through old posts... it's a VIEW thing. Fixed it by clicking on
something other than 'show last 7 days' -- thank you, wise ones!
