My sister bought a Vivitar ViviCam 5385 yesterday for £51 and also bought a 256mb card for £14. Has anyone got this camera or had any experience with it?

Thanks

Nope only stick to the Quality brands when it comes to cameras i'm afraid...although there are some good no name cameras out there that do a decent enough job..

As crazylegs stated sticking to quality brands is THE best policy. Nikon and Canon are the two best brands and together they have something like 75% of the business. There are specialised camera makers and some make even better cameras than the two market leaders but they do not cater for the masses.

I am sure the Vivitar will serve its purpose but not familiar with either its quality or its durability in the long run.

Thanks. What would you say was the best camera available for £50?

Vivitar ViviCam 5385

I am afraid at this price point Nikon and Canon do not have anything on offer

I was trying to look around for the details of the camera and I found a link and was really surprised that you got a fantastic deal which made me very happy. However, when I actually checked the link and went through the details I was even more surprised to know that the unit you bought is actually a very capable piece of kit and must say at a really bargain price.

I would very much appreciate if you could post a few picks just for reference since it may be very helpful to some who may be looking for a camera under £100

Here is the link that I found where I checked the basic description of the camera. If you notice the price quoted is double than what you paid, wow!

Vivitar ViviCam 5385

And you wouldn't believe where it was bought from either Superdrug, when i was told about the camera i really didn't think it would be any good as they aren't known for digital cameras. It was at half price along with a couple of other camera but they had a lower mp and were more expensive. I was really suprised also when i was shown it for the first time. I didn't expect it to have the screen on the back for viewing pictures, maybe i was naive but as i don't know too much about cameras and when i saw the quality of the pictures i was very impressed. The quality was good especially for the price, it does the job as it will only be used for family pics but also for my sister's homework.

I didn't think i would every say this but you should go to your local superdrug and see if they are selling it, great value. Sure other cameras are better, but for what it is worth, not bad at all.

Shame its not my camera lol.

*Sorry if some of what i have written doesn't make sence, i have been typing all day working in uni work that has to be handed in tommorow.
