FrontPage 2000 SP-3 Site URL: www.sandiwaygolf.co.uk/

On my Sandiway Golf Club site I have shared borders, top, left & bottom.
The borders are correctly displayed on all pages except the Welcome
page (index.htm) where the bottom border is not displayed.

This no show happened when the site was moved temporarily to another
server for several days. Presently it is back on the original server
still not displaying that bottom border & defying all my efforts to find
out why not!

Can anyone point me to what I need to do to have this border displayed
please?

Not sure, but you have over 1000 blank lines in the head section of the
index page.

Malcolm,

Try opening the Shared Border dialog for the index page.

Check Current Page and then check "Reset borders for current page to web
default". Save annd republish to see if this does the trick.

Look over the meta data in a page that shows properly and find where it shows
Microsoft Shared Border- copy that line and paste that line over the similar
meta data line on the Index page.

This what a top border and a bottom border meta tag looks like:
<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tb">

I've deleted the thousand lines! And re published after recalculating
the hyperlinks. I've also checked on-line in FP & recalculated the
hyperlinks there. No change is evident to me but your observation &
assistance is very much appreciated.

Whilst I cannot account for that huge space it is my understanding that
clear space of that nature, large or small, serves no function other
than to aid the human when reading of the code; to the computer it has
no significance?

Thank you again for your reply.

Please read my suggestion regarding the meta data. That is how Frontpage
inserts the Shared Border. Compare one page that works like you want and see
if it differs from the page in qustion.

Thank you for your interest & response. I have tried your suggestion,
unfortunately, without success.

Thank you for your interest & reply.

This line appears as the last line in the HEAD section in the code in
the pages that display the bottom border:

<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="tlb, default">

It also appears in the index.htm page code. I have deleted the line
there & copied & pasted the same line from another page to replace it.
The outcome, unfortunately is no change.

Shared borders and Include Pages are design time tools w/ the content (inside the <BODY> tags) of the Shared Border or Include page
"embedded" or included as html in your pages when you save any of the file(s) using them (or save the borders / include pages
themselves)

FP converts your page(s) to a series of tables to include the Shared borders, (which are really just a special case of Include
pages)
But FP can not build those tables if either your shared border page content or main page content has illegal html or broken tag
pairs
- usually due to missing </body></html> tags, or unmatched table / cell tags (unclosed table / cell tags), or some other unclosed
html block element

If you can see them using File Preview in Browser they will publish in as part of your pages

If you can't see them using File Preview in Browser, it's because FP can not build the included content tables, so you need to
validate and correct your broken html

I see you have a statcounter on the Index and not on some of the other pages.
Maybe if you cut the code and save the page without the statcounter. Then see
if your bottom border comes up after reloading th page.

If does not you can paste the code back and save the page.

If it is the statcounter then make sure the code is located outide of any
table or cell.
