Back story:
I am having a new machine built with a Windows XP pro operating system.
I want to install both Office 2000 and Office 2003. I want to be able to
program in both.
I will also install 'Visual Studio' ( current version ).

Questions:
1 - Can these two office versions be installed together ?
2 - Where do I go to get the Instructions ?
3 - Will I have any trouble using the new version of 'Visual Studio' in
conjunction with the older Office platforms?

Thanks

1.) Yes
2.) Install 2000 to \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office-2000
Install 2003 to \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office-2003
3.) Best asked in a VS newsgroup.

Yes, you *can* install together but you should expect to have
conflicts. It's a dumb idea, I would not recommend it. You could use
Office 2003 and then create a VM with XP and Office 2000 to keep
things separate. No worry about conflicts.

You can have multiple versions of Office installed on the same machine,
but you may run into some issues. For one, I believe only one version of
Outlook is permissible. More annoyingly, when Word is started, you may
see a "Preparing to install" message and the installer may begin to run.
This happens each time you open Word that is a different version
compared to the version previously opened. You can either cancel the
installer or make a registry edit.

For other potential issues and more detail, see

For more detail on the registry edit for preventing Word from
reconfiguring each time you switch versions, see

Most regulars here already know this, but just in case there's someone
new here who doesn't, I didn't write the above message. It was written
by a regular newsgroup troll whose only "contribution" here is writing
insulting messages like this. He changes his name periodically to
escape from people's killfiles, and has now reinforced his bad manners
and rudeness by using my name, in messages like this, and in other
messages he wants to send.
