My Boss works from home currently and keeps sending us
the updated files he uses. Mostly excel and they are
pricing schedules. He is paranoid to connect to us
remotely. I keep telling him he could connect once a day
and update the files he has used or created, he can do
this, correct? We have Macafee protection and enough
protection to satisfy the most paranoid of all users. He
had a virus a couple of years ago on his old pc and
doesn't want to link to us inb case something like that
happened again. What is the risk of him getting a virus
by connecting to update some files?

If your boss is UPLOADING then there is no risk. He would
have to download a file and run it in order to activate a
virus.

If the machines at both ends are properly connected through a firewall and
are using a good AntiVirus protection program, the chances are nil!

People do this all the time.

Well there is always a risk but most remote systems used
today have strong protection (a firewall & anti-virus)
and I'm sure there's local protection that scans the file
while it's being downloaded. So "yes" your boss seems to
to be either overly paranoid or using that as an excuse
not to do work at home
