This is a message I sent to EVGA support:

I wanted to let you all know that I was able to solve my problem with the
speakers. I wanted you to know how as well for other people who have the same
problem.

The xbox 360 wireless reciever for windows does something that breaks the
speakers. I am not smart enoguh to know what but as soon as I unplugged the
xbox 360 wireless reciever and rebooted my computer, My Bose Companion 5
speakers worked fine. So if you could record somewhere that this is how you
fix the speaker issue on vista home premium 32, I am sure others would
appreciate it.
