Is there a log file that itemises each step of a Windows
200/XP start-up alar Unix, failing that is there a app I
can use to create this?

I am keen to see exactly what is loading ideally as it
loads - mainly for virus/security reasons?

From memory it's ntblog (NT Boot LOG) in windir.

If you hold F8 when booting you'll get the boot menu where you can choose to log it. This is one you have to remember. You'll only find it by searching for boot logging not boot log (and search previous versions of NT's database/resource kit). Smart eh.

Hi,

Start/run msconfig, go to the boot.ini tab and enable the /bootlog option.
Then look at the ntbtlog.txt file in the widows directory after rebooting.
