Have you tried booting into Safe Mode?

If you boot into Safe Mode and don't lose video than the
problem is: Your display resolution is too high for your
monitor.

If you loose video booting into Safe Mode than the
problem might be your Motherboard.

I've tried safe mode. Any serious consequences if I try
the disk in a different system?
