I am experiencing a very slow boot up. On average it can
take 3-4 mins to get windows xp up and running.
Any advice pse??

Does it do that booting into safe mode as well? Try using msconfig to see
if you have a bad application loading:

Do you have:
USB drives attached?
Unconnected NIC?

The system will poll these devices on bootup.

Have you a Virus checking application running from your autoexec.bat?

That is not unusual, depending on how much work the system has to do at
Startup. If you have many applications that run at Startup, if the system
has to check for the presence of a network, and log you on and so on, then
three or four minutes is not that unusual, and does not indicate the
presence of a problem in and of itself.
