Hello,
My father's old Dell Optiplex GX260 with Windows 2000 SP4 (all updates)
gave an "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" error. It happened right after the
loading graph reached "C" in "Corporation". I had to use a non-Dell 2000
(I don't think it is slipstreamed with a SP) CD and go to its recovery
console (not repair install) and do a repair. After it was done, it said
it finished repairing some issues (didn't specify what type of issues).
Machine was rebooted automatically and Windows 2000 SP4 booted up fine.
I did not see any problems after that. I checked the event logs and
didn't see anything about the issues I ran into earlier. I did notice
the OS was last booted and shut down on 12/15/2007. I do recall getting
updates from Windows Updates. I doubt they were related because they
required a reboot.
My question is what happened? How often this problem occur? And is there
a way to find out what chkdsk did in its repair? Thank you in advance.
