When booting Win2k, I notice some splash window flashing, actually it
disappears so fast I can hardly see what it is. This appears near the end of
booting procedure..
Since I was curious what's going on I consulted the Windows system log,
which shows 2 errors:

both
source: service control manager
event: 7000

1. error properties:

In the past I have had a trial installed of 'Eagletron DVdriver' (and
uninstalled it!!)
http://www.trackercam.com/TCamWeb/download.htm

....but I suspect some parts wheren't removed completely.
How do I proceed removing these remainders?

Click Start / Run / services.msc, then disable the services
that generate these error reports.

Note that they are unlikely to cause the flashing screen you
see at boot time.

The translation I used is not very good but if these two are, part of, or
related to the application you just removed then you have some choices.

1.) Get in touch with the application developer.

2.) Set the service or driver to 'Disabled'

3.) Delete the registry subkey for them from;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

The splash-flash you speak of may be an unrelated issue.

I think I have solved this issue. Not that I'm a real expert, but I'm
beginning to think I'm getting closer :-)
With the help of 'autoruns', which was of great help and I can recommend,

http://www.sysinternals.com/Processe...Utilities.html

I traced some auto run items which "could not be found". To stay safe I
unmarked these, before deleting them. Also I searched the string 'eagletron'
and I found a leftover item which I also unmarked.
After rebooting I don't get the flashing splash screen anymore (!) and
checking the windows log, there are no errors now.

You can look in the registry for orphans of this program you removed.
There are also registry cleaners that will do the same.
You can look in your startup and see if that program is still being called,
if so remove it from the startup.

If you go into the registry be real careful with what you are doing.
