Hi, I have a Compaq laptop that was working fine for at least a year and a
half, and just recently stopped booting properly. Upon booting, it goes to a
screen which says that Windows did not start correctly and offers 5 choices,
safe mode, safe mode w/ networking, safe mode w/ cmd prompt, then last known
good configuration and Normal startup. However, after selecting any of these
options the computer goes to the windows xp is loading screen, and then sits
there for a while. Then it flashes this blue screen very quickly and
restarts, bringing it back to the same selection screen. Any tips? is this a
common problem? please direct me to any resources that are pertinent. Thanks!

Try a Repair Install if you have a WinXP CD.
