Hello,

I certainly don't know what I did to make this happen but here goes.

During the past week when I boot up there is a screen that appears which
says:

"Please select the operating system to start"

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Or
c:\CMDCONS\bootsect.dat=

How would I get rid of this screen when booting? Also could anyone tell me
what I did to get this started?

Windows XP SE
I\E and Firefox
CPU 2.8 Gig
Mem 1 Gig
AVG 7.5
COMODO Firewall
WD-200 Gig

Thank you for any help.

Robert

Robert - CMDCONS refers to the Windows Recovery Console - have you had a
problem recently and used the repair option?

Try : Start>Run>msconfig>boot.ini tab
check "Check all boot paths".
