I have just compiled my first xp embedded image, and I am not sure how to
boot from it, or if I need to do any extra configuring before I can do that.
any help would be great.

thanks

Put image on target drive
Boot.
That's about it.
Let us know how it goes.

Benjamin,

The drive must be prepared to boot XPe. So you must format the drive in
XP/2000/NT to lay down the correct boot sector. If you format the disk using
MS-DOS, than you must use the boot prep utility to replace the boot sector.

Next, you will need to get the image to a target harddrive. If you use dual
boot, you will have to change the ARC path in boot.ini. There are many
solutions that have been posted to the newsgroup about dual booting. If the
harddrive is on another computer, you going to have to look at one of the
deployment methods in the online help. Remote Recover is a tool from
Winternals that provides the best solution for most situations.
