My Laptop w/ XP cannot boot into windows (normal, safe mode and all modes).

Its an IBM laptop. In the middle of booting, i keep getting the blue screen
saying suddenly its "UNMOUNTABLE VOLUME"

What can I do?

I don't have a diskette drive but a DVD drive.

Is there a way I can make it go on the network and get the files that I need
through file sharing?

Is there a way to fix this?

When I use acronis True Image Rescue Program to boot, it can read all the
folders. But I couldn't do anything with the program to help.

Is there any boot programs out there that can help (I am using a USB drive
to boot)?

Thanks in advance.

I have cleared this error on a friends PC using the XP CD. If you boot from
the CD then go to the recovery console and run chkdsk /r or if you type
chkdsk /? then that will give you the available switches just in case I have
got it wrong.

Grab the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows: http://www.ubcd4win.com/

See if any data comes up. If so, connect to another computer via VNC
and copy your data over. (you do have to run the Network Configurator
on the CD to enable network support).
