Boot up Problem

My PC wont even boot up correctly. I,m on my Parents office PC right now, and
I need help fast before it gets worse.

Last night, I was just doing my normal things; playing a few games, talking
on MSN, etc. Anyways, I shut down my PC last night, I went to sleep, I woke
up, and I turned it on. It did something very odd it started up, went to the
windows XP loading screen, then it restarted. It restarted by itself, and it
went to the screen saying 'sorry for the inconvinience, but your computer has
had a problem because it did not shut down properly or because of hardware
problems etc etc etc.

Anyways, I clicked on 'start windows with last known good settings' and
guess what? It started to load XP, then it restarted, and the same screen
came up again. I tried safe mode, normal mode, every single little thing on
that menu, but I get the same issue. Right when the windows XP starts up with
that little blue bar loading screen, it restarts all by itself. I cant access
my profile login screen, I cant access anything at all. I CAN however, put in
the F keys to get different screens to pop up. So I clicked F8 and I got the
options screen. Once again, none of the options there did anything. The PC
still restarted when I clicked on them. One of them however, did something
different. It was called 'disable system restart on failure'. I clicked on
that, and it started to load, then a blue screen of...death appeared. It
sayed this, word for word.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer. If this is the first time youve seen this stop error
screen, restart your computer. If this screen apeers again, follow these
steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed harddrives or
harddrive controllers. check your harddrive to make sure it is properly
configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hardrive corruption,
and then restart your computer.

Technical info:

***stop:0x0000007B (0xF789E524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Any help would be appreciated.

Not a good stop error, indicating problems or issues on the
hard drive or with the hard drive. Ran all of the checks listed
above?

Do you have a Windows XP CD for the computer?

Description of the Windows XP Recovery Console

Hope this helps.

The name of your error code is INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

Based on the information that you provided (no new hardware added and
no drivers updated) the two most likely causes for your problem are:

1. The hard drive is failing or has failed.

2. The data on the hard drive has become corrupted.

Go to the hard drive manufacturer's web site and download their free
diagnostic software and run that to check out the drive. The
download will normally create a bootable CD or diskette that you can
use to start the problem machine with.

If the drive passes the factory diagnostics then you can attempt to
repair the damage by running CHKDSK /F. To do this you must boot to
the Windows XP Recovery Console. There are several ways of doing
this.

I. If you have a Windows XP installation CD (not a "System Recovery"
disk provided by the computer manufacturer) you can boot the computer
with that and choose the "Repair (Recovery Console) option.

2. If both your computers have a 3.5 inch diskette drive then you can
download the bootable diskette images from
http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=310994 Use these diskettes to boot
your computer.

3. You can create a bootable Windows XP CD using Bart's PE Builder
from http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

When your computer has finished booting up under any of the above
options enter the command:

CHKDSK C: /R

and hopefully the data structure of the drive will be repaired.

Good luck
