a contination of my previous post...

After making some adjusments to XP SP3 when the computer boots up I now get
an error message "Unable to log you on because of an account restriction", I
click "okay" (my only choice) and a log-in screen appears with
"Administrator" as the user name & it asks for a password. There is no
password. I booted up in the Safe Mode and verified there are no passwords.
This is a one user system and there are no passwords for either
"administrator" or myself (administrator priveledges). I do not want to go
through any log-in proceedure at boot up or any other time.

Help Please, I can't get into my computer.

Login are still required even in Safe Mode. So just how did you login
under Safe Mode? Those login credentials would be the same ones you use
in normal mode. How was it that you verified in Safe Mode that there
are no passwords (on the Windows accounts) unless you manage to actually
login?

The safe mode simply did not ask me to log-in, there was no mention of it
what so ever. I did it that way at the suggestion of another respondent to
my prevoius post.
("Help needed asap... on 7/18 6:09 pm). I started a seperate post because
the problem had changed slightly.

Since you can get into Safe Mode, undo whatever the mysterious "adjustments
to XP SP3" were that you did.

My Safe Mode also does not require a login or password. I am XP Pro,
but I think it may be different in XP Home and this OP did not
specify, but I digress.

If you perform a Google search on that message:

Unable to log you on because of an account restriction

you will get several good leads depending on your XP version - Pro or
Home.

Most of these kinds of things seem to be associated with XP Home and
are usually easily remedied.

Adjustments were not the cause, somehow the auto update was. Someone came
up with the answer that was so simple it's unbelievable. I said, proof that
there was no password was that user accounts only listed "create new
password" and not to "change existing password". If XP wanted a password so
badly I just created one and used it to log into with! Everything works
fine now.

Could not understand much of what you wrote. You're all over the place
without actually describing what you did. My guess, and it's only a
guess, is that passwords are set to expire and you just changed that so
they don't expire, or maybe the option was changed that requires users
to enter passwords (before you weren't required, now you are).
