Adjustments were not the cause, somehow the auto update was. Someone came
up with the answer that was so simple it's unbelievable. I said, proof that
there was no password was that user accounts only listed "create new
password" and not to "change existing password". If XP wanted a password so
badly I just created one and used it to log into with! Everything works
fine now.
