Windows XP-Pro. All updates are complete.
Every time I boot up, I get a message TrayApp trying to install. I don't
know what it is. I can cancel but it comes back up. If I let it run, it
will bring up a dialog wanting me to browse to my CD that has the
application so that it can finish the install. But I wasn't installing
anything and I'm not missing any applications or icons in the system tray.

What can I do?

Quote from a website....

""do you have your hp printer cd rom? because the trayapp.msi is found
there. insert the hp printer cdrom after you see the window installer asking
for trayapp.msi then click browse, double click your cdrom drive then double
click setup folder, then double click the trayapp folder. now you can see
the trayapp.msi file click it then click open. then it will return you to
the window installer, all you have to do is click ok.""

The computer belongs to my In-laws (from MO) visiting Texas.
Yes they have an HP Printer, but the CD is that there home. Is there anyway
to kill the install?
I don't even know why it started doing this in the first place.

Go to the HP site and use Support to download and install the needed
drivers. It may have requested them just because you plugged a printer
into a different USB port. (silly Windows XP)

You can try this...
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;290301

and read this....
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...reg_R1002_USEN

If you don't know how it started, do you remember running any Registry
cleaners?

There should be a way to kill the install by removing the command from the
Registry.
It is not in the HKLM-Run (Run Once) and it is not in the HKCU-Run (or Run
Once).

Some where in the Registry is the command to finish the install which I do
not want to run.
Any help in this area.
