Hi,
Certainly shouldn't take that long. I would try to repair the startup first
by booting the Vista disk and trying the repair options.
At a guess, I'd say there may possibly be a hard drive detection issue, a
timing miscoonfiguration, or missing/corrupt boot file (where the inactive
period is a time out while it figures out what to do). Ensure that you are
not overclocking as well.
