Hello to all...WinXP Home, SP3 fully updated:

I'd like Microsoft Security Essentials to be the first app. to start and
finish loading, delaying others until MSE is running. Security Center
reports the system is "at risk" when the system is starting because it loads
faster than MSE. I know MSE has a bigger footprint than some of the apps. in
the registry startup list,(hence the security warning). I've Googled and
found several programs associated with my query. I've settled on
StartDelay...it looks promising,

http://www.r2.com.au/software.php?pa...how=startdelay.

What are your thoughts on using such a program...this program in particular?
What other methods do you suggest to accomplish what I want to do? All
suggestions/responses appreciated.

note: I've had no infections with current startup...knock on wood!!!

Thanks,

Curt.

Like any decent malware detection program, MSE loads early in the boot
process. You can ignore the 'warning' from Security Center, which was
never designed to be a precision timing device.

To delay the 'Security Center' starting until after MSE starts,

1. Open this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wscsvc

2. Double-click the value, "DependOnService".

3. Paste the MSE service name on the bottom, "MsMpSvc".

4. Press enter, then press OK.
