Boot problems on Win2k servers !

Hi All,
We have some Citrix servers on Win2k which occasionally do not come up very
well after a daily reboot. The first error in the event log is:

"Application popup: lsass.exe - Application Error : The instruction at
"0x77fcb319" referenced memory at "0x003f0060". The memory could not be
"written".

After this the Netlogon service fails to start and because of dependencies
many other services fail to start which make the server pingable, but
unreachable:

"The Net Logon service failed to start due to the following error: The
service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
"

This does happen at random, so not after every reboot.
When the server comes up good it works fine all day long.
I am thinking of a memory problem, but am not sure because when a server
comes up good it works fine all day.

Our servers are on Win2k SP3, MFXPe1 FR2.
SP4 on Win2k is unfortunately not an option.

Hope you can help me.

Cheers!

Why do you reboot the servers every day?

Are there memory leaks or some criteria which makes this necessary?

Regards,

Hugh

first of all you shouldn't have to reboot daily, or monthly for that matter.
does this happen on each server?

Hi,
Thanks for replying....
We reboot the servers daily, because of memory leaks. This is a
recommendation from Citrix. This failing reboot does not happen on every
server, just on 3 of them. And it does not happen every day although they do
reboot every day.
We also saw that the first service which hangs is the workstation service,
which then causes other services to fail. It is very strange and we do not
see any pattern in this.

Any ideas?

Cheers!
John
