My laptop's cd-rom is not working. I wanted to format
and reinstall windows, because I have too many fragmented
files. I have an external Firewire dvd-rom, how do I
install windows using it. In another word, how can I goo
the drive in DOS. Someone please reply. Thank You!

Look in the BIOS to se if the firewire is listed as a
possible boot device?

Why not run defrag to fix the files? Why not replace or
repair the CD-ROM?

There is no DOS in XP.
