System: XP, A8V-XE (MB), AMD Athalon 64 (proc)

ok i did not have this problem before my computer crapped out, my Water cooler quit working, and my cpu was over heating, well i fixed all that (went with a copper heatsink), and now im getting a boot failure when i turn on my pc. it is giving me the option to Continue or go to setup, i go to continue and everything boots up but really slowly, and i was downloading some patches for a game i play and i dont know the exact details, because i fell asleep. but when i woke up the screen was black and i could not do anything.

lol if you need anymore info please let me know

ok fixed old problem... now new problem, lol every time i start doing a major download or file scan, my computer shuts down, small updates are no problem, but when i run a virus scan, spy ware scan, or a complete file scan for my game it just powers down... any ideas or suggestions would be awesome!

Does your computer run in Safe Mode ? Try run it in Safe Mode and run some virus scans from there and see what happens.

It sounds like you're infected, the boot sequence you describe is classic virus/malware symptoms.

Do as MadX says. Good luck.
