Boot Drive switch

I want to put my old hard drive into a new machine but it
isn't booting correctly. Is there anyway to get the old
drive to recognize the new hardware?

Here's some extra info if its needed:

OS -->win xp
Ram--> 128 MB
Drive-->13 gig

It's probably not the drive that fails to recognise the new
hardware but rather Windows XP that has a problem. Here
