My bookmarks are dissappearing but I'm not sure what
action is causing it. The bookmarks from an entire page
vanish so subsequent links go to the correct page but not
the right entry.

Could recalulate hyperlinks have such a disasterous
effect?

Do you have spaces in the bookmark names,
i.e. book mark instead of bookmark or book_mark.
Spaces will cause bookmarks not to work and the browser
will revert to the top of the page containing the bookmark

No, the bookmarks are lowercase, all one word and
suffixed by a number such as: edelivery2.

Human Error!

Two copies of Front Page open on the same Web site.
Careless switching led to confusion and missing bookmarks.
