Open the Customize dialog via View-> Toolbars-> Customize...
Leave that dialog open and right click on any icon in the toolbar and choose
"Edit Button Image...".
You can copy and paste images from an icon editor into the "Edit" dialog.
Note that you cannot modify all the buttons.
