Hi deidra :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

I can't see JPG's or GIFS any more - red x - images missing - fuzzy
images/distorted images
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers.htm#jpg_gif
or .
http://www.fjsmjs.com/IE/redx.htm

also..

If you have Zone Alarm, Uncheck "remove private headers" for all
sites.

or.....................

To restore the default file association, go to
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm
Download, unzip and merge the REG file, "JPE/JPG/JPEG Association Fix"
Some image/graphics programs will change file associations.

828682 - JPEG images appear distorted in Internet Explorer 6
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=828682

820286 - PRB Windows XP Does Not Natively Support High-DPI Screens
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=820286
Same problem- good discussion of the problem.

Try updating your video drivers:

If you don't know the loacation of your Video driver, or how to find it:
Location for XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q314854
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...ngdrivers.mspx
or......
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q314854
Find the information on your video driver. Then go to the website for mfg.
of the video driver and look for the update to download and install. There
may also be a Update Driver button on the dialog box you can use to go
direct to the update download site.

also........

Try reducing hardware acceleration:
Right click on the Desktop on an open area,
Properties>Settings>Advanced>Troubleshoot
Move the slider back to the left a little and test to see if that helps.
Try it at increments until you get all the way to the left end to see if
that helps.

Hope this helps

I had the same problem..Tried everything that everyone suggested/recommended
to no avail..I even purchase and installed
a new video card..Tried a PCI video card, still had problem..That's when I
decided it had to be some piece of software
causing the problem..I solved the problem yesterday, but don't really know
what did it..I re-install service pack 2 (XP Pro), removed some old programs
I no longer needed, cleaned some items out of the register that were left
behind by these great un-install routines, then bingo my images are longer
fuzzy..Wish I could tell you exactly what solved it, but I can't..There are
numerous people with this problem..

If your ISP supplies some kind of Web accelerator try turning that off.
