Bluetooth problems with Microsoft keyboard / mouse

The Microsoft Bluetooth optical desktop elite is connected to my new Dell /
Vista laptop using the built-in bluetooth adaptor.

Everything connects and works just fine, however, the mouse, or the
keyboard, will intermittently behave as if not "connected" (keys don't
result in input keystrokes, mouse movements don't move the cursor). Waiting
about 30 seconds will resolve the interruption of service.

This problem doesn't occur on my Dell / XP system, so I doubt it's the
keyboard or mouse. Is there any known problem with Vista bluetooth?

Sam

Apparently, only with Microsoft Bluetooth keyboards and mice.
(At least that has been my experience with Microsoft Bluetooth keyboards and
mice, even with the latest Microsoft keyboard/mouse software).

My Logitech MX5000 Laser set works just fine with the Logitech-provided
dongle. However, installing the latest Logitech software results in no
Bluetooth icon either in Control Panel, or the Notification Area. Nor does
there seem to be a Bluetooth Stack installed. (if one is, it is simply not
visible to me).

Logitech says that the keyboard and mouse are "prepaired" with the receiver
they provided.
Any help or advice gratefully received.

Should I just be thankful that my Logitech keyboard/software set work
correctly, even though there appears to be no Bluetooth installed?
