as an addendem I found that I have all the drivers necessary for bluetooth
support within windows, it's just the bluetooth devices icon is not showing
in control panel, is this a matter of registering a .cpl file or what??

Further info, I've found this is a common problem with xp svc pk 2,
unfortunetly, no solutions as of yet, I will continue to research.

I had a similar problem. I searched for Bluetooth and uninstalled my TDK
device.
When I plugged it in again, Windows searched for and installed drivers etc.
again.
The Bluetooth icon then appeared in Control Panel.
However, it does not necessarily appear in alphabetical order at first, I
found it at the bottom of Control Panel after I scrolled down. Might be
worth checking

I've looked all thru the CP, no bluetooth devices icon exists.
even tried MS and talking to a support person, they want to charge me, and
with no guarranty, of resolving the issue, no thanks!
I'll keep searching, so far nothing on the internet gives a fix. searching
MS is the same thing.

However on the other side of the coin, everything I've been reading about
says disable MS bluetooth drivers, as they don't provide headphone support,
and other issues with conflicts etc, my BT device works, so maybe it's a non
issue.

I can't make this work, There is no file
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\
on my computer.

I can send a file from the computer to my Palm via infrared, but can't send
anything back because I can't turn on discoverability.
The computer Help files say to go to Control Panel, go to Bluetooth Devices,
then click on discoverability. But there Is no Bluetooth Devices folder in
the Control Panel.

Bluetooth and Infared are two different things. Some Palm devices have
Bluetooth, most or all have infared. Does your PC have infared?
