Blue Screening

If I log in to the main user account in Windows XP, I
keep getting a blue screen as soon as I enter in my user
password which tells me that Windows has detected a
hardware or software problem and has to shut down.
However, if I log in to the computer as a different user,
my son's for instance, I am able to access the computer
(but, without access to all files).

In my troubleshooting, I did attempt to temporarily
remove the registry settings from the main user account,
but when I went to do this from another account, it
immediately blue screened as soon as I attempted to make
any modifications to the main account.

Thoughts? We are perplexed.

Mike, no we had not installed any new software or
hardware in some time.

win 2k and xp do not normally blue screen unless there is
bad hardware/drivers installed. Software has to go
*really* bad before this happens.
