This patch repairs a USB communications defect that has been discovered on the newer faster personal computers. The problem is most pronounced on PC's using the SIS chipset and operating at speeds greater then 1.0 Giga Hertz, on Windows XP. Instances of this problem have also been seen on Windows 2000. Temporarily disable any antivirus software.
Exit any running applications, games, utilities, and multimedia applications.
Download the file, HPVSeriesDisconnectionFix.exe to a local drive. Make note where (in which folder) the file gets copied.
In Windows Explorer (or by some equivalent means) go to the folder where HPVSeriesDisconnectionFix.exe was copied; run the program.
Follow installation of the HP V Series Disconnection Fix to completion.
Enable any antivirus software that was disabled during this installation
