All of a sudden, when I try to connect to the Internet, my PC crashes and I
get a blue screen that says "A problem has been detected and Windows has been
shut down to prevent damage to your computer".

The technical information reads:

"STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000001D, 0x822AB028, 0xEE74A44C, 0x00000000)

Does anyone know what this means, and more importantly how to fix it?

(I have already run virus scans and machine is coming up clear.)

This may not be the best place to ask this question, but if anyone has
suggestions on better groups to post to, then any suggestions would be
gratefully received.

Thanks,

Chris :-)

Hi,

Is a dump file created (.dmp)? If so, it may contain some clues as to what's
going on. Send it to me directly at the email address used here
((E-Mail Removed)) and use the subject line 'per req' to get past the filters.
